The Studio
Warm and Inviting
Piano lessons are conducted in a warm and inviting home atmosphere. Students enjoy graded advancement in classical music and theory applications for modern music, and lessons are geared to allow learning at their own pace, yielding excellent retention and results. I teach through kinesthetic learning, visual learning, and mental stimulation to first teach kids to be familiar with the full-size keyboard. When a student is comfortable with the topography of the keyboard and chord structure we move to note reading.
Additional Benefits
As a member of the St. Paul Piano Teacher's Association (SPPT) my pre-collage school age students are able and welcome to participate in:
- Recitals (SPPT) charge a small participation rate.
- Competitions
- Performance Awards
Beginner to Expert
Comprehensive Lessons
I begin with children as young as 7 ½, though I have no upper age limit! It is never too late to start learning an instrument. Beginning lessons for children are universal preps for band. Later we will progress to classical, pop, or Jazz prep theory. Both adults and children will receive lessons in music theory, and comprehensive lessons for the future reading of any type of music including fake books.
Rates
Whether you are a beginner with no piano experience, or an experienced player wishing to rediscover the piano music you took so long ago, my Piano Studio offers rates to fit nearly any budget. These rates (paid 4 weeks in advance) are due week one of each 4 weeks. Rates include method books (graded teaching books) that I provide at no charge through piano grade 4.

Frequently Asked questions
What happens if I miss a lesson?
Lessons will be made up at a later date. I have one makeup day per quarter. If a lesson is missed due to bad weather, it will be made up during holiday seasons or in the first month of the following months of June or July.
Do you accept children younger than seven?
No, 7 ½ is the earliest age.
What style of piano do you teach?
Of course, I begin with the basics, but first I like to progress through some early classical music to establish the ground work of support (chords), elements of music, ear training and fingering (kinesthetics).
